This detached house project, in a natural environment on the Costa Brava at a high altitude and with Mediterranean tones, is set on a plot facing south with a slight slope and sea views, which give the house a dominant position towards the horizon.
The topography of the land and its orientation were the decisive elements for the design layout, structure and morphology of the house, closed on the north façade, increasing the feeling of indoor privacy, and completely open on the south façade, where you get magnificent views and enjoy natural light.
Based on a set of cubes design, these are divided into two large groups, which make up the perimeter of the façade. In the main complex is the day area; with kitchen, dining room-living room, entrance hall and toilet on the ground floor, and a two-storey study above the living room.
In the night area there are 3 en suite bedrooms on the ground floor and a large bedroom suite on the upper floor. The terrace, which is an extension of the ground floor, generates the feeling of unity between the indoor and outdoor spaces through the large windows that make up the south façade.
The whole house was designed so that Edward and Cristina could fully enjoy the indoor and outdoor spaces, so necessary when there are children in the family.
The materials used outside (stone, glass and metal) are cold in character and provide the house with great continuity and architectural monumentality. By contrast, the interior design has used warmer materials and colours (wood, decorative paper, fabrics…) to provide greater comfort. All the interior carpentry in the different rooms has been designed from floor to ceiling to achieve greater light and ventilation.
