LOYGORRY PENTHOUSE
Location: Carrer Industria, Barcelona
Constructed surface: 130m2
Property developer: Private owner
Fecha: September 2010–January 2022
This house, located on the attic floor of a seven-storey building put up in the 70s on the hillside of a Barcelona suburb, has enviable views over the city and one of its most emblematic monuments; the ‘Sagrada Familia’ Basilica.
The surplus interior compartments, typical of 70s construction, and the lack of natural light in daytime spaces, led us to consider the total remodelling of the owner’s apartment to correct these deficiencies and create a home in line with Kike’s modern and current lifestyle.
This led to a radical change in the existing layout, and its new design focused on the creation of open spaces on the ground floor, designed as the day area, and enlarging a room on the upper floor. To open up the space on the ground floor, metal elements supported the load-bearing walls of the building, features that have given more character to the daytime area. To enlarge the room on the upper floor, light structures were built that created new spaces.
The renovated house has a completely open ground floor with kitchen, living room and toilet, open via large spaces in the facade to the terrace, creating a very bright space with exceptional views over the city. On the upper floor there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a small study, all with access to a side terrace.
The interior design, with fine yet simple materials, provides answers in simple language with high-quality elements that were hand picked by Kike to fully adapt to his style.
